camel uncertainty

A LOT has been going on - and I have my Hindi FINAL EXAM (hard to believe it's that time already) on Wednesday. I have started an incredibly long post on the awesomeness that was my week in Jamkhed, but until I can do it justice, here is a picture of me and a camel, very uncertain of one another.

And Dad, before you ask, yes, they spit. No, it did not spit on me. They told me "oh but they're trained camels." Somehow I don't think training encompasses spit prevention. I kept my distance.

Love and camels,

Laura

  1. Dearest Laura, I m glad you remembered see!!!- you never thought you d have to know that!!!!! ( it s like l0 to 18 feet ( depending on how long they ve been saving spit). HOWEVER, what you are looking at ( we think) IS NOT A CAMEL... be careful!!!!!!. it could be a dog with an exceptionally long neck????????? or a VERY strange looking BIG frog???????? Anyway... he LOOKS like he wants to spit.... your right for being cautious Really, you don t want to be WRONG on this one... you d be saying "yuck!" for days and months !!!!!!!!( they re also VERY ACCURATE !) camels have nothing else to do but kind of sit around (and practice when no ones looking - rarely has a person ever seen a camel spit- usually it s too late- and they cant see for a few minutes .... as they turn and RUN!!) )and wait for someone to come close enough so they can do target practice!!!!! Love Dad

  2. Hey Laura, p.s. I m really proud of the look on your face... You know..... you have a look like you may be ready to spit on him...I m sure that made him very cautious....( spitting battles can be terrible- and with him sitting down... you have definitely an advantage as it takes a lot for him to stand up and run.............. I d say it was a stand off!!!
(You know mom thinks talking about stuff like this is really silly... so she doesnt know yet we had this little exchange of important information!!!) Love Dad

  3. Laura, by the way our family is very skilled in the area of spit prevention... the training has worked exceptionally well, ( except for Joey of course) I would think that spit prevention for a camel, is well, quite unnatural and there would definitely be a time when he s "had it" and decided to end the frustration and really smack someone!!!!!!! Congratulations for being careful!!! oh also congratulations ... and good luck with the Hindi final exam Wow that was fast!!! Love Mom and Dad
