indian pedicures...

...cost Rs 150 ($3) and consist mostly of cleaning your feet until your toes almost fall off (I'm pretty sure I could fit into shoes two sizes smaller than these now). The polish is put on hastily at the end... who needs polish? All of the emphasis is on making sure you're clean and neat, like every aspect of Indian hygiene... this is particularly difficult in Delhi, the second most polluted city in the world. What's also important is ironing your clothes; a minute detail that is mostly lost on American college students. It doesn't even matter as much what you're wearing, but its condition that counts. "Why are you wearing such crushed clothes, girls? We have an iron if you wish."

Well this has been a great post. I'm sure you were really curious about my feet.

pink Indian polish,

Laura
